After Installation
On starting up HLSW you will see the mainframe which looks similar to the following screen:
All Mainframe-components can ba activated and deactived over the View main menu entry.
Explainations for all parts of the mainframe can be found here.
So now you see this screen, so from the top you will see the usual windows options, then below that Server List (this is where you store your favourite server lists.
Below this is IP/Port, ( simply paste the ip address and port number of the server in here) the details for that server will be displayed in the bottom half of the window. Beneath the Ip/Port bar is the tool bar from here you will be changing most of the programs options.
Setting up Hlsw for launching game
Ok so we have seen a quick overview of the main sections of the program. Now we are going to set up HLSW to start Counter-Strike 1.6 instead of Gamespy Arcade or the games own launcher. So along the top line of the program you see File, Server list, Server, Settings, View and ?.
We want settings so press settings and then settings... again now you see this screen.
On this screen you will see the games that HLSW supports in the current version. As you can see I have three games that I play through HLSW, Counter Strike, Army Ops and Soldier of Fortune2. So if you also have other games on the list installed on your PC then you have to use the same procedure for selecting the launch path. So double click the text for the game u want to configure for HLSW. In our case we want Half-life, because Counter-Strike is still a Half-Life Modification. This will open the following Screen.
Ok, this is the game config screen. Basically all we are going to do here is click browse and browse to the directory that hold the file steam.exe. In my case, (I have it installed in the default directory) C:\Sierra\Counter-Strike in here you should see steam.exe. Select steam.exe from the window screen then ok. Now back in the HLSW screen apply then ok. Then ok again on next screen.
Ok thats it, your done!! all you need to do now is get an IP address paste into the IP/Port bar, wait till the server gets recognized right and click the connect button. Oh and dont forget to enter a player name in the space given.
